The Coachella Valley is a great place for solar energy with approximately 360 days a year of sunshine. There is alot of sun in Palm Desert to Palm Springs and also alot of empty land. Southern California Edison is financing the projects which has 36 contracts to solar energy companies during the first phase of the project. The projects will be ground installations and are scheduled to be in use in the fall of 2011. The power generated will be used from Palm Desert to Palm Springs. The solar program is targeted on projectsof 20 megawatts and under with a goal of installing 500 megawatts. This solar generation is long overdue in the land of perpetual sunshine in Coachella Valley.
