Symbolism of our flag
The flag's design and color was not defined at the start. As time passed, the flag took on additional meanings.
The 5 point star is a symbol of the heavens and the divine, a goal to which man aspires
Blue represents vigilance, perserverance, and justice. Red shows hardiness and valor. White signifies purity and innocence.
Stripes symbolize rays of light from the sun.
Ratification dates - Each star represents a state pn the flad. The stars are added to the flag on the July 4 after the state is admitted.
Respect
People should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over their heart when a flad is raised or lowered or passes in a parade. Individuals in uniform should salute.
