I am visiting in Burlington, Iowa. I see homes that sold for $45,000 30 years ago are now about $125,000. My parents sold their home here for $45,000 about 30 years ago and bought one in Mesa, Arizona for $47,000. Their home in Mesa was worth about $230,000 a few years ago, but now is down to about $130,000. Living in Iowa or Mesa for 30 years seems to have made no difference in home equity. Very interesting.
