La Quinta California Real Estate

Another reason to live in La Quinta! Our schools are top notch!

Every year the state requires testing of all students to determine how the school is performing.  The results for the Academic Performance Index score range between 200 and 1000.  The state of California wants all schools to be ranked with an API of 800 or higher.  Many school districts are struggling with this score and are trying to find new ways to help students learn.

La Quinta High School however seems to have it all under control.  The La Quinta High Blackhawks not only scored 815, but they also now hold the title of the best performing high school in the valley, based on these tests!

Way to go Blackhawks!

Home Sales are up! 20% increase in sales in La Quinta  compared to 2009! In February 102 homes sold in La Quinta alone! Overall there is a 9.4% increase in home sales throughout the Coachella Valley, which is better then a decrease.  Other Coachella Cities are also showing more sales for the month of February.

La Quinta                    102 homes sold

Desert Hot Springs    89  homes sold

Indian Wells                 19 homes sold

Rancho Mirage            42 homes sold

Although the numbers are not off the chart, we are showing signs the worm is turning!

Have you been down Blackhawk Way in La Quinta?

Have you been down Blackhawk Way in La Quinta?  Well do not feel left out, no one has yet.

The La Quinta City Council  approved  changing Westward Ho Drive to Blackhawk Way between Adams Street and Dune Palms Road in La Quinta.  The reason why you ask?  Because the graduating class of 2010 at La Quinta High School has taken pride in their school and wanted to leave behind a lasting legacy for all students. So no longer will students go to school on Westward Ho Drive, They will soon travel down Blackhawk WayLa Quinta High School is known as The Blackhawks and I am proud in these youth for taking pride in their school.

The senior class of La Quinta High will be paying the approx $5,000 for the signs and installation.

Go Blackhawks!

La Quinta Boys & Girls Club is making world news! The Karate Way

La Quinta Boys & Girls Club is making world news, The Karate Way! Congratulations to Sensei Siah Nix, club director and to the 5 kids whose hard work has paid off.  On July 22 to 30 these kids will be traveling to the  USKA World Championships in Dallas, Texas to compete. This is such an honor for these kids and a lesson that diligence, persistence and dreams do pay off.  What an amazing experience for them to be able to compete with others from as far away as China and Australia.

This is the first time the La Quinta Boy & Girls Club group has qualified for the tournament. Congratulations La Quinta Boys and Girls Club as well as the kids, it is your time to shine! You have already made us proud!

In La Quinta, Ca our real estate mantra is ...Close, close, close!

Real Estate Buyers are out there. They are moving from the sidelines into buying. They are begging us to close, close, close. We had 30 people at an open house in a 2 hour period last weekend in PGA West in Close, close, close!. They all were interested in interest rates, how homes were selling, how long it took to close escrow, how many homes had sold recently in PGA West, what they will take for the house.
I sat one gentleman down and figured out his financial condition, had him do a loan application, and got our lender on the phone with him right on site.
We also got 3 other people who told us what exactly they wanted and signed a buyer to broker to work with us to find it.  We are in communication with them daily to be sure they stay with us and they do find the perfect house.
The key is to create the sense of urgency, find the perfect house ( you must know the inventory to find the perfect house at a bargain price) and then go for the close and close again and close again.
Good agents make money in any market. In our area, there is a 15% unemployment rate and we are still doing great in real estate. WE keep working on our skills. We know the inventory. We CLOSE,CLOSE, CLOSE.

Animal Charity Event (K.A.S.E) was a huge success @ Mountain View Country Club in La Quinta,Ca

Animal Charity Event (K.A.S.E) was a huge success @ Mountain View Country Club in La Quinta,Ca.  For many months The Lori Bowers Group a boutique style Real Estate Brokerage has been working hard to plan, organize and put into action this amazing charity event for animals. The organization that was chosen to be the recipient of honor was K.A.S.E which stands for Keeping Animals Safe Everyday.

K.A.S.E.(Keeping Animals Safe Everyday) is a 501 C (3) organization that is dedicated to improving the welfare of injured, lost, abandoned and otherwise homeless animals. They assist with medical treatment, training and rehabilitation of injured, lost and abandoned animals and exert every effort to insure they have full and happy lives in La Quinta, Caas well as the entire Coachella Valley.

The Lori Bowers Group held their first annual charity event on March 22, 2010 at Mountain View Country Club in La Quinta, Ca.  Tickets were sold out to the delicious buffet style dinner prepared by the staff at Mountain View Country Club and the event was a smashing success!  With a silent auction and raffle The Lori Bowers Group was able to present to K.A.S.E a check for over $13,000. For the first ever Charity Event, our team at the Lori Bowers Group is thrilled and looking forward to doing it again next year.

Coachella Valley residents still show love in tough times

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission was close to having to close its doors due to the shortage of food.  The residents of our amazing community once again heard the plea and responded with generosity.

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission serves 97,000 meals a year.

In the past year, it's seen a 65 percent increase in demand while experiencing a 35 percent decline in food donations.

Since Tuesday the mission has collected enough food to fill a 10 by 10 room, which is a huge relief and improvement compared to the shelves that were rapidly being empty.  Donations are still coming and it is so heartwarming to know I live in this amazing community.

Dont forget, donations are always needed, whether food or monetary, the mission is a staple to many.

Coachella Valley Rain brings wildflowers

The desert is famous for its sunny days, warm temps and amazing golf courses.  This year however we were blessed with a few more days of rain and some cooler temps and we all were able to pretend a few more days that we were experiencing a real winter.  With 4.98 inches of rain so far this year, we felt like drowned rats. The result?  This year the wildflowers should be spectacular and is already starting to bloom.  Looking around you can see yellow and purples and light green blooms peaking out of their blooms....By March they are saying it is going to be one of the best wildflower seasons the desert has seen.   So keep your eyes out for

Desert blooms include:

Brittlebush and desert sunflower.

Canterbury bells - a bluish purple flower that droops like a bell.

Desert dandelions, gold poppies and white pincushions.

Sand verbena - a purplish, pink bud

It wont be hard to miss and is another great reason to come visit us in the desert.!

Canadians Love La Quinta, California

Each winter we have more and more Canadians not only visiting La Quinta but buying homes here. I ask the Canadians how they find La Quinta? Most find La Quinta from friends or family who have visited here. Some Canadians find La Quinta for the abundance of golf courses.
Then I ask the Canadians, what they like about La Quinta? The common denominator for the love of La Quinta is the sunshine and the friendliness of the people. Of course the Canadians like the cleanliness, the lush green lawns and vibrant flowers, and gorgeous close mountains that change colors moment by moment in La Quinta. The Canadians like the La Quinta Costco and most are members within a few days of arriving. The restaurants, shopping, hiking, spas, golf, art galleries, and local La Quinta events like car shows  are enjoyed by the Canadians.
In La Quinta, the Canadians are considered "locals."
