As realtors and brokers, much of the time is very hard for us to take quality time and pay special attention to our families. I try to take at least one hour each day when I get home to listen to my husband without spilling my real estate drama of the day. I also learned several years ago from Tom Ferry to not walk into the home on the phone - not even texting or emailing on my PDA.
Each three months, my husband has to go from La Quinta to Los Angeles for his doctor's appointment for his rare nerve disease. I make sure I am available to go with him and spend at least one night in Los Angeles with most all my attention directed towards him. We go where he wants to go when he wants to go. We talk about whathe wants to talk about. I use the communicating skills I learned for my clients with my husband. I ask him questions over and over about himself and do not talk about myself whenever possible. He loves it. It is really fun that almost always on the way home he tells me how much fun he had. Even when he talks about our trips to his doctor appointments ( which are not good news) he is positive beacuse of our good times together.
I also make sure to go to dinner with just him at least every 10 days. In our business, it is very easy to include others which is enjoyable and many times profitable too, but I realize he needs time with just me focused on him and his needs and our life together.
We also have firends over about once a month. He loves to share our home and good memories with others.
We enjoy a good sports event or good movie on TV at least once a week. This is fun to share and more good times to remember. It is also very realxing for both of us.
I suggest today you take some time and schedule this time with your family over the next 3 months and then stick to it. I think you will find your business grows and your personal and family life is healthier and happier too with lots of good memories.
