Learn What to Plant at Community Garden Day on Palm Desert

The Desert Horticultural Society is holding their 5th annual Community Garden Day on Saturday October 9, 2010, at the Henderson Community Building, 72559 Highway 111 at El Paseo from 9 am- 2pm.This is the place to get all the answers about converting vast spreads of lawns and mass plantings of color to low- water plants. The event is free. Experts will be be on hand to explain and demonstrate options for a beautiful yard with less water and less maintenance too. Representatives from 4 water companies will on hand to provide updated information. Some of the presentations include: HOA landscape guidelines to reduce water usage and incorporate desert landscape, pruning shrubs and tress for growth and health and aesthetics, cpnverting to drip irrigation, how to incorporate fruit, seeds, nuts, and herbs into the landscaping plan.
