At one of the first real estate meetings I ever went to when I started as a real estate agent over 10 years ago, I learned a very good tip that has helped me everyday. There was an agent at the meeting who was getting an award for being a real estate agent for 40 years. The broker asked her what she felt most helped her succed in real estate. Here is what she said:
"View at least 10 homes everyday. It really doesn't matter what homes you view. You will learn the inventory and you will sell alot of homes from knowing the inventory."
From that day forward, I started to view 10+ homes a day. At the time I was living in the Bay Area so there were alot of homes to view. I would just drive down the street and look for "For Sale" signs and view the homes. One day I saw a man looking at the sign and the home. I stopped and asked him if he wanted to view the home and if he had an agent. He said he did not have an agent and wanted to view the home. I knocked on the door and the seller let him view hoe. Guess what - he bought the home and it was my first $1 million dollar sale.
I still view homes everyday and really understand how important it is to know the inventory. It is amazing how many times people come to me to view homes and I have just previewed exactly what they want to buy. This is so impressive to the clients and so helpful to me.
